The Hernandez family has been serving authentic hand-mad Latino cuisine since 2012, when they opened a food truck at an antique mall on Route 15 in Leesburg. When the antique mall changed owners, the food truck was prevented from operating at the location. In April, a friend of the family, Rick Morgan told Nery that a restaurant in Purcellville, Haute Dogs, was moving out. The Hernandez family decided to take the big step from a food truck to brick and mortar. Authentic pupusas are now here in Purcellville as of December 28th 2015 with the opening of Nery's Pupuseria, a restaurant that owners Nery and Alex Hernandez have been dreaming about for many years.
Nery learned to make Pupusas from her Grandmother in El Salvador. She likes to make everthing fresh, grilling your order in front of you and topping dishes with fresh ingrediants made the same day. Nery's Pupuseria serves a wide range of Latino cuisine including her famous Street Tacos, Quesadillas, Fajitas and some traditional breakfast plates.
A pupusa, if you have never heard of one, is roughly the El Salvadoran equivalent of a gluten-free, cholesteral-free panini. Your choice of vegitables, meat, cheese and beans stuff a grilled corn tortilla and comes with sides of traditional slaw and red dipping sauce. Come try one today!
